Theatrical Tweens (9 - 12 Years Old)

Picture
Tweens have many opportunities in our weekly classes to act out a great variety of situations they may encounter in life.

The main thrust of our programme is developmental drama. In a fun-filled atmosphere, our drama classes aim to give young people ongoing confidence, self-esteem and skill in verbal communication. The confident, articulate child finds it easier to make friends, accept new challenges and explore new directions. Our acting and drama programme is designed to help each child achieve these invaluable skills.

The contribution of each child is encouraged and valued in a warm, positive, learning environment.

Our programme is designed to help each child achieve invaluable life skills via the following activities:

  • Introductory Activities – Response to Scenarios, ad-lib to promote multiple sentence flows
  • Speech – voice projection, articulation, forward placing, tone & pitch, focus on consonants, poems
  • Music, Movement & Dance Drama – mime, gestures, actions, body language
  • Small Group Improvisation – creative drama stories in small groups, teamwork
  • Whole Class Improvisation – drama stories based on life scenarios
  • Mini-scripts & Snippets – scripted short stories, scene planning, teamwork
  • Structured Scene – presentation of situational scenario
  • Telephone Interviews – telephone skills

Twice a year, they will all take part in a short, scripted presentation that is performed for parents and friends. Besides being a visual and tangible feedback on the progress and development of the child, this is also an invaluable experience for the child to build public speaking confidence.

When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things.
