Our Youth Programme (13 - 17 Years Old)

Youth theatre is a place where young people can express themselves creatively and in doing so develop their interpersonal and communication skills.

Our dynamic Youth Theatre Programme in Hong Kong is open to all students attending secondary school.

We attract a wide range of young people, from those seeking to increase their confidence and speaking ability, to those hoping to pursue a career in theatre and media.

Our Youth Theatre arts programme encompasses a five year cycle of curriculum providing young actors with a great diversity of material.

A youth is to be regarded with respect. How do you know that his future will not be equal to our present?
- Confucius
The theatre arts side of the programme is very comprehensive, covering the following spontaneous activities:

  • Introductory Activities – ad-lib, thinking on your feet
  • Speech – voice projection, articulation, focus on consonants, tone & pitch
  • Small Group Improvisations – group-work, scenario development & planning
  • Radio Plays – radio commercials, radio programmes
  • Career and Theatre Games – thinking on your feet, response, actions
  • Mini-Scripts – scripted dialogues, scene planning
  • Open-ended Dialogues – development of dialogues leaving audience in suspense
  • Vox Pops – Media Interviews

In the final term of each year, our students begin work on a scripted production which is performed for a public audience. This is always a highlight of the year and reflects the talents and skills of our students and their teachers.

Many lasting friendships are made through attending the Youth Theatre Programme.

Do you want to develop strong social, creative, and communicative skills?

Drama for young people is widely recognised as a practical way of engaging young people in a creative environment. Taking part in youth drama is seen as a great confidence booster and a positive form of social outlet and self expression.

We can provide you with a weekly opportunity to practise and develop your talents.

Build communication, critical thinking and leadership skills

By revealing yourself and being accepted, you gain the confidence and self-esteem that is fundamental to your development into a healthy and well-rounded adult.

At school, technical skills can be taught relatively easily, but ‘soft’ life skills translate across all disciplines, and are what employers look for in successful leaders.

Year End Presentation

Youths from Singapore in the year end production.

They had to not just to work on articulation, expression, projection, co-operate with each other but Mexican accents as well!
It was challenging but well worth the effort.
